Gov’t Declares Additional Holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr Celebration

The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Sunday, 30th March 2025 marks this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr. However, in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), His Excellency the President has signed an Executive Instrument declaring Monday, 31st March 2025, and Tuesday, 1st April 2025 as additional public holidays.

This decision follows the fact that 30th March 2025 falls on a Sunday. The Ministry’s press release, signed by the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), urges the general public to observe both Monday and Tuesday as public holidays across the country.

Eid-ul-Fitr is a significant festival on the Islamic calendar, marking the end of the Ramadan fast. The additional holidays ensure that Muslims and non-Muslims alike have adequate time to celebrate and spend time with family and friends. Citizens are encouraged to note these changes and plan their activities accordingly.
